What does a 7/10 actually mean?

On GreatSchools: a 7 means ‘above average’ β€” roughly the 60th-70th percentile of schools in the state. But the number hides enormous variation. A 7 with high growth and low proficiency is a GREAT school in a lower-income area doing exceptional teaching. A 7 with high proficiency and low growth is a mediocre school coasting on wealthy families. Same number. Completely different schools. You MUST look at sub-scores.

Is a 5/10 school bad?

Not necessarily. A 5 means ‘average’ β€” which could mean: average test scores in a diverse community with excellent teachers and strong growth, or average scores in a wealthy area where the school is underperforming. Context matters enormously. Some 5-rated schools have exceptional arts programs, beloved teachers, and happy students. Some 9-rated schools are test-prep factories with burned-out teachers and anxious kids. The number alone tells you almost nothing.

Should I move for a better school rating?

Maybe β€” but not for the rating alone. If the difference is 5 vs 8 and the 8 has strong growth, good teacher retention, and fits your child’s needs: the move may be worth it. Refunds & Returns

Order cancellation

All orders can be cancelled until they are shipped. If your order has been paid and you need to make a change or cancel an order, you must contact us withinΒ 12 hours. Once the packaging and shipping process has started, it can no longer be cancelled.
